Workplace-safety improvements have prompted a reduction in employee injury and illness in eating-and-drinking places that outpaces overall private-industry reductions. This is primarily because restaurant operators have taken steps to improve employee safety-and their efforts are paying off. According to the National Restaurant Association Research Department's analysis of government data, the industry is enjoying a lower incidence of workplace injuries and illnesses.
